Silvia Bastante de Unverhau

Partner, Philanthropy Advisors Braymont

Silvia Bastante de Unverhau is a global philanthropy expert with over 25 years of experience across the business, international development, non-profit, and government sectors. Silvia advises philanthropists and foundations on how to deploy their capital for systemic, long-term impact. Silvia’s work has been featured in the Financial Times, Forbes, and other leading publications, and she has authored numerous reports on strategic and systems change philanthropy. Thematically, she has worked extensively on education, health, economic opportunity, gender equality, and human rights.

Silvia teaches for the Master of Advanced Studies in Philanthropy at the University of Geneva, and provides independent advisory services through Braymont. She also serves as a Senior Advisor with LGT Philanthropy Advisory. Prior roles include Chief Philanthropy Officer at Co-Impact, Global Head of Philanthropy Advisory at UBS, Associate Partner at Monitor Group and earlier in her career she held management roles at the Organization of American States, Amnesty International, and the Office of the President of Peru. 

Silvia is Senior Fellow of the Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth (CSP), where she teaches strategic philanthropy on some programs. She also brokered the partnership between CSP and Co-Impact.

Originally from Lima, Peru, Silvia holds degrees from the London School of Economics and Harvard Kennedy School. Based in Zurich with her husband and two children, she loves spending time with her family and travelling — having visited and worked in over 80 countries and counting.
